What Mastering Does:
- Turns your collections of songs into an album
- Evens out differences in the sonics of each song
- Gets your music up to a “competitive” level.
- Can SUBTLY improve the fidelity of individual songs
Mastering can enhance any greatness that may already be in a recording. If you have no greatness in your recording, you shouldn’t master.
What Mastering Doesn’t Do:
- Make a life changing differences
- Make a terrible mix sound great
- Promise to make your music more effective
- Sell more copies of your cd
How much does mastering cost?
To go with a robo big boy, you can expect to pay about a $1,000 to have an album mastered, give or take. For an amateur, the price obviously drops.
