I’ve not worked with a good old rock band in a long time. About a year ago, Lost Possum had came in to bang out 9 songs live in the studio. The plan was to do a short and sweet recording with all the good, bad, and the ugly that comes with a 6 guys sweating it out in a single room.
Of course, Lost Possum’s live experience made this style of recording a no brainer. I have to admit that recording in this style is a breath of fresh air. After spending up to 6 months overthinking each and every track in some past recordings I’ve made, it was nice to just go for it in the live arena.
After all of us (both Lost Possum and myself) took time away from the band thing to put time into other ventures, we decided to get together and finish a record that is definitely worth finishing.
Tonight we did a few acoustic guitar overdubs, but nothing too out of control.
A more fun thing for me was running Brock’s vocals through a guitar overdrive pedal. I had never done that before, oddly enough. It was REALLY over the top, but it was EXACTLY what the song needed. I’ll eventually post an MP3.
